Payroll · Benefits & deductions
Benefits, deductions, and the tax that doesn't get taken.
Enroll an employee in 401(k), HSA, health/dental/vision, FSA, life, disability, or garnishments. We apply the right tax treatment per plan — cafeteria plans cut FICA, 401(k) cuts only income tax — enforce 2025 contribution limits, compute the employer match, and map everything to W-2 Box 12.

How the tax treatment works
- • Cafeteria / Section-125 (health, dental, vision, HSA, FSA): reduce BOTH federal income tax AND FICA wages. Biggest take-home benefit.
- • Traditional 401(k) / 403(b): reduce federal income tax but NOT FICA — you still pay Social Security + Medicare on those dollars.
- • Roth 401(k), life, disability, garnishments: post-tax — no current tax reduction.
- • 2025 limits enforced automatically: 401(k) $23,500 · HSA $4,300/$8,550 · Health FSA $3,300 · Dependent-care FSA $5,000.
- • W-2 Box 12 codes accrue as you go: D (401k), AA (Roth 401k), W (HSA), E (403b).
